Welcome to [F]law School!

Our Trailer Episode:

Welcome to [F]law School, a podcast exploring the flaws in the law.

[F]law School is a podcast created by high school, college, and law school students, as well as young lawyers. It focuses especially on how many of our most urgent social problems are the product of those flaws and how those flaws are the product of corporate power and  influence over of the legal system — including legal education, the legal profession, and the judiciary.

Each episode features interviews with authors from The [F]law magazine, discussing their articles and personal experiences. Learn more on our webpage at flawschool.org and in this brief trailer.

Rough Episode Transcript

Alan Greenspan [00:00:00] I found a flaw in the model that I perceived as the critical functioning structure that defines how the world works, so to speak.

Jon [00:00:15] Welcome to Flaw School. I’m Jon. I’m a law professor. And I’m here to tell you about a new podcast created, produced and hosted by high school, college and law students, as well as recent law school graduates who all share an interest in exploring the flaw in the law.

Reya [00:00:34] Hey, I’m Reya and I’m a second year in undergrad. Welcome to Flaw School. We will look not just at the flaw in the law. But the flaws in the most popular theories used to justify and teach you all, and how those flawed ideologies have contributed to social injustices.

Christina [00:00:52] Yeah. Hi, I’m Christina, and I’m a law school graduate. At Flaw School, we’ll also look at the corporate actors that have invested millions in trying to shape the law. Those previously mentioned theories, the judiciary and legal education itself in ways that advantage those corporate actors interests. As we’ll see, maybe there’s no flaws, only features.

Pragnya [00:01:18] True, but feature school doesn’t land as well as floor school. Hey, I’m Pragnya. And I’m a senior in high school. Flaw School is the work of a lot of people around the country. It’s also a collaboration with The [F]law magazine, which you can find at theflaw.org, both of which are special undertakings of the Systemic Justice Project at Harvard Law School.

Mirei [00:01:40] Welcome to law school. I’m Mirei, and I’m a high school senior. The Flaw magazine shares stories written by students about how corporate interests have infiltrated social and political institutions, and proposes methods for challenging corporate control and building collective power.

Cassie [00:02:00] Hey, I’m Cassie, and I’m a law student. If you’re intrigued by social justice, corporate power, the law, law school, and public interest work, then Flaw School  is for you. In fact, it’s probably better than law school.

Sam [00:02:16] And it’s much cheaper than law school, too. Hi, I’m Sam, and I’m a public defender. If you can’t wait to start Flaw School then here’s all you need to know. Our first episode will drop in September. You don’t want to miss our conversation with Jessenia Class about her latest article.

Jessenia [00:02:34] Hi, I’m Jessenia Class , and I’m a law student. I’m really looking forward to discussing my latest Flaw article titled Suppression by Surveillance. It uncovers how corporate propaganda and advertising efforts have changed cities and universities perceptions of activism, placing protesters and student organizers in more insecure and uncertain positions, undermining constitutionally protected speech and manifestations of democracy, and creating an opportunity for tech surveillance companies to profit.

Sam [00:03:04] That sounds great, Jessenia. The article, I mean, not undermining constitutionally protected speech and threatening student protesters. Anyways, after that episode, we hope to publish episodes every two weeks and we hope you’ll attend Flaw School with us. You can join us on our web page at flawschool.org or wherever you listen to podcasts.

Everyone [00:03:29] Welcome to law school!
